Premier League kits of next season: what's hot and what's not

Updated: Sep 11, 2020

With just six weeks between the 2019/20 and 2020/21 Premier League seasons, top tier English football will be back on our screens before we know it!

But while we wait, we thought we’d give you a taste of the season to come by giving the Tenner verdict on the very best and very worst Premier League kits we will be treated to.

What’s Hot

Liverpool home

(Sports Direct)

Making the switch from New Balance to Nike, the Premier League Champions will be sporting the classic red strip with a twist. The turquoise and white collar and cuffs might not be to everyone’s taste but for us it looks fresh and stylish.

Crystal Palace away

(talkSPORT)

Another team to switch up their design for the better next season is Crystal Palace who have done away with the ‘full stripes’ and instead opted for a kind of striped chevron. They’ve kept this design template for the home and third kit too and we think the Great Britain colours look very smart.

Arsenal third

(Design Football.com)

Who doesn’t love a good third kit? Arsenal’s 20/21 effort is nice and classy, blending a blue camo with a light pink. It looks like Willian will still be playing some games in blue next season despite his move across London.

West Ham away

Last season wasn’t a particularly happy one for West Ham fans, but maybe they’ll have more to shout about on the road next season with this tasty maroon and light blue effort. Bonus points too for the matching shorts which are a lovely touch.

Brighton home

There’s something about the collar which we think works a treat. Put that alongside the thin white stripes and you’ve got yourself a very nice looking home shirt. Good job Brighton.

What’s Not

Chelsea third

(mrdeerkits.ru)

This is not the one. Chelsea’s designers look like they have got halfway through designing the kit, realised how bad it is and given up on the rest. Either that or Chelsea are trying to trick Wilfred Zaha into playing for them with this suspiciously Crystal Palace-esque colour scheme kit.

West Brom home

This shirt looks more like a barcode than it does a home strip. The shirt also isn’t helped out by the ‘ideal boilers’ sponsor… This kit has championship return written all over it.

Arsenal away

(premierleaguenewsnow.com)

We have no idea what Arsenal are going for here. This kit looks like something out of a horror film with blood splattered all over it. With just 4 away wins last season, Arsenal fans will be hoping that the shirt is not an omen for another horrible showing on the road.

Liverpool away

(Liverpool FC)

We may have rated Liverpool’s home kit, but the away kit is doing nothing for us. The kit’s wave-like design hits all the wrong notes and looks more like a League 2 goalkeeper kit than a reigning Premier League Champions’ away kit.

Man City third

(Footy Headlines)

The absolute state of this. The Man City third kit looks like a cheap summer shirt you’d take off the clearance rack at TopShop. This is by far the worst 2020/2021 kit we’ve seen, let’s just hope The Citizens stick to home and away next season.
